Today for Jeff's pick I'm picking myself. I recently did a solo show at Mendenhall Gallery on the ECU campus. The show "Precarious" was my first solo show, and was a chance for me to do something a little different. Enjoy

David Hayworth Galleries at NCMA
Last Thursday evening Rena and Mark Norcross kindly hosted a group from High Point, along with the Corbitt/Hardee gang of Greenville, to a tour and dinner of the new David Hayworth Galleries at the newly expanded NCMA. Here is a link to the expansion details http://www.ncartmuseum.org/expansion/ It is just fabulous and architects all over the world...yes, WORLD...are giving it rave reviews. Thanks to all of those who came, including High Point University President Nido Qubein and his wife Mariana.

ALMOST extinct!
Thank goodness Richard Fennell can still find the occasional tobacco barn and depicts it so well! For more of Fennell's wonderful paintings, follow this link http://cityartgreenville.com/richardfennell.htm

Bird Nest Adventure Series
Gallery artist, Hilda Spain-Owen decided to paint bird nests, exploring the twists and turns of the lines of nature. Her life took some twists and turns of its own about that time so she incorporated that into her art. She began painting the bird nests with brightly colored “circus” balls in them to symbolize “hatching new adventures” giving her new life path good energy.
These little paintings make great energy gifts:
Baby gifts for good luck and as a first piece of original art
Wedding gifts as a reminder to keep new adventures hatching throughout marriage Graduation gifts to remind the graduat of adventures ahead
Birthday gifts for a nod to adventure in every new year
“Just because” gifts to bring a smile to someone’s face

Jenny Lou Sherburne
Inspired by everything from "garlic cloves to onion domes, from the Isle of Crete to the Land of Oz, from Antonio Gaudi to Doctor Seuss," Jenny Lou Sherburne's ceramics represent whimsy at its finest. Come see more of Jenny's work on display at the gallery! (Or, check out her webpage.)

Hot off the press!
A brand new shipment of rainbow-colored champagne flutes, wine glasses and sherbet bowls/old fashioned glasses just arrived from the Tennessee foothills glass studio of Prentice Hicks.
The rural setting of Prentice's family dwelling and glass studio in the former Wauhatchie tribe area with a stream flowing through the nearby cove, creates an ideal atmosphere for quiet concentration and work. Prentice prefers to work alone and uses no tools when forming the cup of his stemware.
